Nalanda University
Nalanda university was situated at Rajgir, near Nalanda, Bihar, India. It was a very famous and the world's biggest and second oldest university in the world about 1500 years ago, the first was Taxila. You might be thinking that why I am saying 1500 years ago, that's why because about 1500 years ago, Bakhtiyar Khalji put this university on fire. It had 4 libraries, and all fours had lakhs of books, which was burnt for about 6 months continously, you can think that how many books were present there.
It was made by Kumar Gupta, he was a very famous emperor in Gupta dynasty. Many brilliant personalities preached here, such as Lord Buddha, Atiśa, Aryabhata, Harshvardhana. It was attacked thrice and was rebuilt twice, after the third attack on it, it is now rebuilding by Indian government, and it would be completed by 2020. Many famous people visited at this university, such as Xuanzang who visited this university in 637 and after in 642. He studied there for 1 and a half year. Library, here, included grammar, literature, astrology, economy, architecture, astrology, medicine, etc. Most of the students of Nalanda university were Buddhas, having Mahayanas and Hinayanas.
